Which districts of Köln do we work in?
Köln is large, dense and shaped by historic buildings in large parts of it. In Ehrenfeld, Nippes and Sülz multi-family buildings stand shoulder to shoulder, parking pressure is high and the streets are narrow. In Rodenkirchen or Lindenthal access is usually easier. What matters when moving in Köln
High parking pressure in the old quarters
In Ehrenfeld, Nippes and Sülz, free space in front of the front door is the exception. Without a permitted no-parking zone the moving day is considerably extended, because every piece has to be carried further. We therefore apply for it as standard.
Carnival and major events
During carnival week and at major events, parts of the city centre are closed off and access roads are restricted. We plan moving dates in this period with additional buffer, or move them back by a few days.
Historic buildings without a lift
Many apartments are on the third or fourth floor, and the stairwell is narrow and winding. Whether we dismantle, carry or work with an external lift we decide during the survey – that is the largest time factor of the day.
