Care insurance move
When a flat no longer suits your circumstances, moving is often the better solution than a conversion. If you have a care grade, the care insurance may contribute to the cost under certain conditions.
A move into a more accessible flat can be subsidised by the care insurance as a measure to improve the living environment
This requires a recognised care need: the move must make home care possible, easier, or restore a more independent way of living. The grant must be applied for from the care insurance before the move. D&E Umzüge carries out the move and provides you with the documents the care insurance needs for the application.
How a care insurance move works
Apply before the move
The most important point: the grant is applied for before the measure as a rule. Anyone who moves first and applies afterwards risks a rejection. We therefore prepare our quote so that it can be submitted to the care insurance.
A recognised care grade is required
What matters is a care grade recognised by the care insurance and the justification that the new flat makes care easier or enables a more independent way of living – for example through accessibility, a lift or a level-access shower.
The care insurance decides, not us
We are a moving company, not a social advice service: the amount and the approval are decided solely by your care insurance. What we can contribute is a transparent written quote and a move tailored to your situation.
How we shape the move itself
- At your own pace A move in later life or with a care need runs differently from a student move. We allow more time, work with a fixed contact person and agree every step in advance instead of improvising.
- Help with sorting out When moving into a smaller flat a lot is left behind. We help with sorting, clear the old flat completely on request and hand it over swept clean.
- Set up before we leave Bed, wardrobe and the most important furniture are set up and usable before our team leaves the flat. Nobody should spend the first evening among boxes.

Who can receive a care insurance grant for a move?

Must the application be made before the move?
Yes. Measures to improve the living environment are applied for before they are carried out. Ask your care insurance which documents are required – our written quote can be attached.
Which documents do you provide?
A written, transparent quote with an itemisation of the services, which you can submit to the care insurance. On request we add details of the scope of the move.
How much is the grant?
The amount is laid down by law and is set by the care insurance in each individual case. Ask your care insurance directly about the current amount and the conditions.
Do you also accompany the move into a care facility?
Yes. Moving into a facility or into assisted living is one of our common jobs. The same applies here: more time, a fixed contact person and set-up on site.
Do you also clear the old flat?
Yes. On request we clear the previous flat completely, dispose of everything properly and hand it over swept clean – in a single appointment together with the move.
