Not every transport is a move. Usually it is a single sofa, a wardrobe bought online, or a few pieces of furniture that need to get from A to B – you do not need a full moving crew for that.
A furniture transport is the transport of individual pieces of furniture or a few items – as opposed to moving an entire household.
D&E Umzüge carries out furniture transports across the Ruhr region and in NRW: from collecting at the dealer or private seller, over the transport, through to placing the piece in position at the destination – including disassembly and assembly on request. After a free survey or a description by photo you receive a fixed-price offer.
When a furniture transport is the right choice
Individual pieces of furniture
A sofa, a wardrobe, a washing machine or a dining table: if only a few pieces have to be moved, a furniture transport is far more streamlined than a complete move – smaller vehicle, smaller team, shorter appointment.
Collection from a dealer or private purchase
Second-hand from a classifieds portal, a showroom piece from the furniture store, or a delivery that only goes as far as the kerb: we collect, transport securely and carry it up into the flat.
Partial move and part-load
If only one room is moving, or individual pieces are going to another city, the part-load is the economical option: your furniture travels along a route that is already planned anyway.
What a furniture transport includes
- Securing and protection Every piece is secured with blankets, film and straps. Sensitive surfaces, glass and corners are protected additionally – transport damage is almost always caused by missing securing, not by the journey.
- Disassembly and assembly If a wardrobe does not fit through the stairwell we take it down and put it back up at the destination. This can be booked as its own item and is listed separately on your quote.
- Carried to its final spot We do not just deliver to the front door, but to the place where the piece is meant to stand – including upper floors without a lift. For bulky items we clarify in advance whether a furniture lift is needed.

Frequently asked questions about furniture transport
What affects the cost of a furniture transport?
The number and size of the pieces, the floor and lift situation at both addresses, the distance, and additional services such as disassembly, assembly or a parking ban zone. We do not work with flat rates: after the survey or from your photos you receive a binding fixed price.
What is the difference between a furniture transport and a move?
On a move an entire household is moved, on a furniture transport individual pieces or part of them. The furniture transport needs less vehicle, fewer people and less time – and is therefore the leaner job.
Do you also transport individual pieces to another city?
Yes. Within the Ruhr region and in NRW we drive regularly. For longer routes we check whether your piece can travel as a part-load on a route that is already planned.
Can you transport a piano?
We treat pianos and grand pianos as their own service, because they require special equipment and trained staff. Details can be found on our piano transport page.
Are the furniture insured during transport?
Yes, transport insurance is included with every job. For especially valuable single pieces we discuss in advance how they can be secured additionally.
How short-notice can you take on a furniture transport?
Considerably shorter-notice than a complete move. Where there is free capacity, appointments within a few days are possible – just ask.
Do you put the wardrobe back together at the destination?
Yes, on request. Disassembly and assembly are booked as their own item; on the quote what is included is shown separately.
