What does kitchen and furniture assembly cover?
Kitchen and furniture assembly is the taking apart and rebuilding of fixed furnishings. That includes fitted kitchens with base and wall units, worktops and panels, as well as wardrobes, shelving systems, beds and partitions.
The hardest part is not the dismantling but the adaptation. A kitchen was built for one particular room: window reveals, door openings, service connection points and wall lengths are rarely the same twice. Panels, plinths and frequently the worktop therefore have to be cut again.
D&E Umzüge measures up both rooms in advance and establishes what can be carried over and where additions are needed. The kitchen is usually dismantled the day before the move, so that moving day is spent only on transport, and is then rebuilt and levelled at the destination.
What is included in the assembly?
The scope is agreed in advance, because it depends heavily on how different the old and new rooms are.

How much does kitchen assembly cost?
The price depends on the size and construction of the kitchen, the number of built-in appliances and how much adaptation is required. D&E Umzüge issues a written fixed-price quote after measuring both rooms, listing dismantling, assembly and adaptation separately.
Will my kitchen fit the new home?
That can only be answered after measuring both rooms, because wall lengths and connection points almost always differ. Often most of it fits, while panels, plinths and the worktop have to be recut or added to. This is settled before the move.
When is the kitchen dismantled?
As a rule, the day before the move. That keeps moving day free for transport and the rebuild. For larger kitchens, dismantling may happen two days ahead.
What is the difference from the connections service?
Assembly concerns the furniture itself: units, worktops, panels and plinths. The connections service concerns appliances and services. The two interlock and are usually commissioned together. Details under Connecting appliances and services.
Are gas appliances connected?
Gas connections may only be carried out by a specialist authorised to do so. Removing and refitting the surrounding units is part of the assembly; the gas connection itself is not. Please mention gas appliances when you enquire.
Is the worktop recut?
Where the new room dimensions require it, yes. Cutting and adaptation are part of the service. With stone and composite worktops, recutting is not always possible. This is checked when measuring up and stated in the quote.
Do you assemble ordinary furniture too?
Yes. Wardrobes, shelving systems, beds and partitions are dismantled, transported and rebuilt. Parts are numbered during dismantling, so the rebuild at the destination works without searching or trial and error.
What if parts are missing or damaged?
Missing connectors, plinth strips or panels are identified when measuring up and flagged in advance. That allows them to be sourced in time rather than blocking the assembly date. Worn parts on older kitchens are the most common case.
