What is a corporate relocation?
A corporate relocation is the move of a company or practice to a new location, including workstations, files, equipment, stock and furnishings. Unlike a private move, the real challenge is not the transport but the downtime: every hour without functioning workstations costs money.
That is why a corporate relocation starts with a plan rather than a date. The plan sets out the order in which departments move, which areas keep working in parallel, when equipment is disconnected, and how files are labelled so that they can be found immediately at the new location.
D&E Umzüge surveys both locations, produces a schedule with clear responsibilities, and carries out the move outside business hours on request. You receive a written fixed-price quote in which inventory, assembly and follow-up work are listed separately.
What is included in a corporate relocation?
The scope depends on the size and sector of your business. The components below can be booked individually or as a complete package.
- Moving plan and project management Survey of both locations, a schedule, and named contacts on each side.
- Inventory and labelling Every item of furniture and every crate receives a number and a destination room in the new building.
- Dismantling of IT workstations Computers, monitors and peripherals are disconnected, transported securely and reconnected at the desk.
- File relocation Folders and archives are transported in lockable containers and put back in their existing order.
- Office furniture assembly Desks, shelving systems, partitions and cabinets are dismantled and rebuilt at the new location.
- No-parking zone and lift booking Permits applied for at both addresses, coordinated with building management and facility teams.
- Moves outside business hours Transport in the evening, at the weekend or on public holidays so that operations continue.
- Disposal, storage and final cleaning Retired furnishings are disposed of or stored, and the old premises handed over broom-clean.

Frequently asked questions about corporate relocation
How much does a corporate relocation cost?
The price depends on the number of workstations, the volume of furnishings, floor levels and lift access, distance, and the moving window you choose. D&E Umzüge issues a written fixed-price quote with itemised services after surveying both locations, so the amount is settled before the move.
Does the business have to close during the move?
Usually not. The move is planned to run outside business hours or in stages by department. At larger sites, individual areas move one after another while the rest keep working. A full move across a single weekend is the most common arrangement.
How long does a corporate relocation take?
An office with up to twenty workstations typically moves across one weekend. Larger sites, warehouse space or businesses with specialist equipment are split into stages and moved over several weekends. The schedule is set during the survey.
How are files and confidential documents transported?
Files are transported in lockable moving containers and put back in their existing order at the new location. Containers are numbered consecutively and assigned to a destination room. For personal data, agree the requirements of your data protection policy with D&E Umzüge in advance.
Who coordinates staff on moving day?
The move is run by a dedicated project lead at D&E Umzüge, working with a single contact inside your business. Staff usually pack only the personal contents of their desks. Everything else, from dismantling to reassembly, is handled by the moving team.
What happens to furniture and equipment that is not moving?
Retired furnishings are disposed of or placed in storage on request. Disposal is separated by material; details are available under Disposal and clearance.
How quickly can a corporate relocation take place?
Allow eight to twelve weeks of lead time for more than twenty workstations. Smaller offices can be moved at considerably shorter notice. For urgent cases, D&E Umzüge checks availability as soon as you enquire.
Can furniture be stored if the new space is not ready?
Yes. Furnishings and stock are placed in storage and delivered to the new location on the agreed date. This is the norm during fit-outs and delayed building handovers. Details are available under Storage.
